There are some things you just can’t skip.
Like learning the ABCs, or 1,2,3’s. They’re the basics for all the other learning you’ll do in life, right?
When my kids were in elementary school Hubby and I had to basically re-learn math when common core was rolled out (rather clumsily) here in NYS. Math mountains, math sticks, arrays, counting on….it was like a foreign language to us.

Why the basics?
But without these basics, we could fumble our way forward and keep doing things the way we were always doing them, which would leave our kids unable to learn and all of us frustrated…
Or we could actually sit down and learn the basics together, able to move on to higher math without floundering and doubting.
As business owners its so easy to skip over the foundational stuff. We watch so many others post about making a high income while working only a few hours a week…and we want that too.
But what we’re missing is IF this is true (because in all likelihood part of the story is missing) they didn’t skip ahead to making all the money without first knowing what they were building on.
What are the basics?
As business owners, there are things to get set as your foundation:
- Your offer (that’s actually something people are looking for, not just something you want to do and think they need)
- Know who you can serve with that offer
- A means to get your offer out there in a way that conveys your professionalism (because if you don’t look professional, you can’t expect the professional price you’re asking) and yes, I’m talking about a website and social
Just like with the new math, there are some things to be firm on before you get to the showing up / website part.
What do you need help with?
Digging deep, actually even deeper than the above, is part of my standard process. We start with a free 15 minute call to see where you are and where you need to go. Then to get you more clarity so you know how you can move forward, we schedule The Focus, a deep dive interview session. This session will help formulate a roadmap so you’re not just throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping to find a direction for your business.
This focus will allow you to know what to say no to, what to say yes to. You’ll be less scattered, feel more competent and will project more confidence. You’ll have more focus in your business, and the ripple effect is you being able to show up everywhere you show up with more focus as well. All bundled together this makes people realize more quickly they can trust you.
Need help with figuring it out? Let’s start with a free 15 minute conversation to see what the best next step is for you.
