The Website Content You Didn’t Know You Needed

May 25, 2019

We’ve talked a lot about planning what goes on your website, but there are two pieces of content we haven’t really talked about before but that are just as important, if not always read. Yes! There is website content you didn’t know you needed and I’m spilling the beans on a great customizable resource today!

Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policies are two must-haves for your site to not only be legal according to federal law, but also to get in line with GDPR. (You can read more about what that is here. And please know that this post contains affiliate links to resources I know and trust. By following these links and purchasing, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.)

The Terms & Conditions page sets the rules for your website. If you are gathering any detail of personal information (including, but not limited to someone’s name and email address and IP address) then you need a privacy policy. That means if you are asking people to sign up for a freebie in exchange for their name and email address, you definitely need one of these!

While the Terms & Conditions page (also referred to as T&C) isn’t technically required by law, it can help limit your liability. I can go into more detail, but I’m not a lawyer and don’t want to get it wrong. What you can do to learn more, though, is head to The Contract Shop where there is plenty of information for you as well as contracts and other legal documents that you can download and personalize for your specific website needs.

Privacy Policy

Also, if you have a website without a privacy policy, you could be breaking federal law. Crazy, right? And if you don’t have one with GDPR provisions, you could be breaking an international law?! When you are transparent with your readers like this, it builds their trust in your website, opinions, products and services.

While there might be places online where you can find these for free, I recommend going to a source you can trust to make sure what you place on your website is right for your site. That’s why I recommend heading over to The Contract Shop to purchase a bundle that is super easy to customize and add to your website or blog!

Take Action

Take time to review your site and the copy it needs beyond your main Home, About, Blog and Contact pages to see if you’re missing anything. Take note of anywhere you collect personal data, whether that be asking for a name and email address in exchange for a freebie, or making note of any plugins you use that capture information that GDPR thinks is personally identifying information from an individual user, like an IP address. Then go the next step and place a Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy on your website to protect yourself and your readers!

You can always search for something that covers you online, or you can head straight to The Contract shop by clicking here to grab 40% off the GDPR Compliant Terms & Conditions + Privacy Policy Bundle! Hurry! This sale is only from May 27th at 9pm through May 30th at midnight (EST).
