An Orchestral Composer’s Website
I had the privilege of creating a website for a composer whose main focus is creating music for elementary school orchestras. His works are published formally, but many want to hear a piece before they buy it for their school orchestra to play.
Create a library for his orchestral recordings
Create a site similar to his previous site, but make it responsive (his previous site was not)
First I reviewed his current site for ease of use, as keeping his current layout wouldn’t be good if users couldn’t maneuver around it easily and it couldn’t achieve his goal of getting them to his library of works. He already had colors and a general look that he wanted to maintain, and it appeared I could use Divi to duplicate his existing layout concept.
Then I set to finding a plugin that would accomplish the overall goal of being easy for him to upload his MP3 files, but which also had a layout that would make it clear to a visitor that they would be able to hear his composition and would also show the estimated length of the musical excerpt.
As he desired to retain a minimal site that represented his overall elementary compositional style, I presented a simple five-page website layout highlighting his compositions, news posts, and contact pages on his homepage, which was only slightly different than his previous site.
The result is a clean, minimal site that leads a visitor quickly to his compositions. Take a look below and at https://www.TimIsham.com.
